1.What inspired you to choose QTS for your SkillBridge experience, and how did our mission, culture, and purpose resonate with you from day one?
A family member informed me about QTS. Upon exploring the company further, I found that the QTS mission aligned with what I loved the most about serving in the military. I value teamwork and love that QTS prioritizes giving back to the community. I also love the way QTS takes care of their employees, treating them like family.
2. What was your role in the military, and which branch did you serve in?
I served in the Army for 13 years as an Apache Armament Electrical Repairer. I have served in all positions from Squad Leader all the way to Platoon Sergeant and Instructor.
3. What advice would you give to service members considering SkillBridge—and why should they consider QTS as their landing spot?
I would always encourage service members to join QTS. QTS’s large population of Veterans allows for a smooth transition for military members, ensuring they will be surrounded by people that have shared experiences and can help guide the transition from active service to civilian life.
4. How did your SkillBridge internship prepare you to contribute on day one in your full‑time role with QTS?
Getting to be at an operational building with a customer in place allowed me to see the day-to-day responsibilities I would have in a full-time role, as well as giving me the wiggle room I needed to learn and adapt. Currently, I am in a building that is under construction and I was able to take the knowledge I gained from the active building and use it to guide my team.
5. Who at QTS—mentor, leader, or teammate—had the most meaningful impact on your journey, and how did they help you navigate your transition from service to civilian career?
Jonathan Bentley and Jason Street were both very understanding in helping me transition out of the military. They gave me the guidance I needed to make my transition easier and shared in-depth knowledge surrounding the data center industry. They always answered my questions and showed me a lot of patience; it’s because of them I have a foundation of knowledge that helped set me apart as well as makes me an asset to my team.
