why qts
As the digital infrastructure leader, businesses, governments and organisations rely on our data centers. We take our promise to connect the world with purpose, seriously. We do this through:
Data centers require thousands of skilled workers to design, construct and operate. We choose markets like Vimercate because of access to a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
We achieve our sustainability mission by prioritising both business success and ethical conduct. This means enhancing the lives of employees, customers, investors and communities while preserving the environment. We make sustainable choices across all aspects of our operations.
In line with our core values, we engage in a wide range of volunteer opportunities, community outreach and community partnerships to help others in need in the places we work.
QTS is building new data centers to provide the infrastructure necessary to support the surging demands of an increasingly digital world; and in doing so, we remain committed to minimising environmental impacts. Our data centers feature a closed-loop cooling system, are built to green building standards and aim to source power from carbon-free sources.
As a data center sustainability leader, QTS has developed a multi-pronged approach to target water inefficiencies within its portfolio of global data centers and thereby support both the environment and the communities in which it operates.
QTS will use its industry-leading closed-loop cooling system, significantly reducing requirements on local water supplies. The cooling systems operate with a free-cooling technology which helps to minimise power consumption.
Our sustainability goals aim to enhance lives while minimising environmental impact, reducing our carbon footprint, promoting clean energy and benefiting the community.
We plan to create green spaces on-site and our development will ensure preservation of key habitats and off- and on-site biodiversity enhancements.
A data center is a critical infrastructure building that stores large amounts of digital data. You likely access a data center whenever you use your mobile phone, access your online banking or medical records, or engage in any digital activity.
Data centers play a critical role for businesses and communities. They enable reliable internet connectivity and ensure secure data storage.
Data centers generate important local investment, helping to support local communities and their priorities. The state-of-the-art facility in Vimercate will represent a significant inward investment of up to €2.3 billion.
Creating a data center campus in Vimercate will bring direct and indirect employment opportunities, both during the construction of the facility and its ongoing operation.
QTS goes far beyond building and operating the world’s most advanced, sustainable data centers. We’re committed to the communities we operate in. We are actively working in the communities of Vimercate to find out where and how we can best support residents.
Our company and employees donate time, technology and resources to support local programmes and agencies. We are committed to improving communities and changing lives.
For example, in the UK we support Thames21 in riverbank clean-up.
In the Netherlands we have supported Children’s Play Week, Foundation for Surinamese Families, Groninger Museum, Netherlands Food Bank, Foodbank Groningen, Thuisbasis Veteranen, Stichting Kwaku and Westerbork Museum.
Your feedback shapes our work. If you live or work in Vimercate, we welcome your perspective and questions at any stage of this process.
